My latest information is this ; Vista jagmasters - true shortscale 24". standard series - 25.5. Vintage modified (current) - 'conversion' necks; one less fret+ last fret closer to the end of the neck. on looking at comparative pics this would seem to hold up.

A Squier Jagmaster II in Sunburst finish. A very comfortable guitar that is very easy to play with a great neck and low string tension from the 24" scale. Some cosmetic issues, mostly limited to a dent in the front of the body sticker residue from a sticker that was used to cover the dent in the body.

The Chinese ones were made in both 24" and 25.5" scale at different times. The Vista series came first but I don't remember which order the Chinese ones came in (whether they started with 24" or 25.5").
